Numerous celebrities, including Angelo Kelly , Maite Kelly, Peter Maffay, Michael Schumacher, Kerstin Ott , Andrea Berg , and now Angelina Jolie are said to have already died in the still young year of 2023. But the media is silent. – There is only one reason:

These death reports are false!

The posts spread across social media all come from dubious sites, which lead to dubious blogs, which then lead to even more dubious YouTube videos.

The blogs contain numerous - including duplicate - posts about various stars who are said to have died “a few minutes ago”. In the videos on YouTube you can see pictures of the respective celebrities. Computer voices recite a text that tells about the celebrities, but does not contain any references to illnesses, accidents or death.

Angelina Jolie is not dead!

Just today we received a request for such a post. According to this, Angelina Jolie is said to have died.

“Hollywood reports very sad news about Angelina Jolie, she is confirmed as…” – The text alone should make you curious. The picture speaks volumes. People crying, a coffin being carried, and then ex-husband Brad Pitt, who appears to be holding a picture of Angelina Jolie framed by white roses.

Aside from the fact that it's a photomontage (Brad Pitt is shown sharper than the two people on the left of the picture, although they should actually be at roughly the same level of focus), the text that screams for clicks should also be alarming.
By the way, the photo of the grieving women comes from a funeral in Mexico in 2019 .

There were already of the Hollywood star's death in 2015.

There is no information about such a bereavement on her Instagram account

Dubious YouTube videos

There are a lot of videos like this on YouTube. If you are first directed to one of the channels that reports on the alleged death of a star, you will find other such reports here:

Andrea Bocelli, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Celine Dion, David Hasselhoff, even Chuck Norris and other stars are said to have died.

We still don't understand the purpose behind these messages and videos. This does not appear to be a phishing trap - users are never asked to enter any data - nor do any pop-ups open that could contain spyware or malware.

On the various pages that can be accessed from Facebook posts, a warning is issued about an unsafe website. Some of the pages no longer exist after a few days.

Conclusion

Stay away from such sensational reports.

It's better to first google whether any of the reports can be found on an official news site or the website of the celebrity in question. If not, then just let it go or – even better – inform those who are spreading the report that it is a hoax. Feel free to send us a link 😉
