A screenshot of a tweet from “CNN Ukraine” is circulating on social media, according to which activist Bernie Gores is said to have been killed in Ukraine.
The report of his death - although he was a journalist here - was already in 2021, tweeted here by “CNN Afghan”.
Social media users are now putting both screenshots next to each other ( HERE and HERE ), comments like “lying press” or titles like “Crisis Actor” are put into the mouths of users.
According to the text in the screenshot, this is said to be the “first American fatality of the Ukraine crisis,” namely Bernie Gores, an activist who fell victim to a mine explosion. According to the screenshot, this message was published on February 23, 2022.
This contrasts with the report from “CNN Afghan” that Bernie Gores, a journalist, was executed by Taliban soldiers in Kabul. According to the screenshot, this message is from August 21, 2021.
Fake reports from fake accounts
Neither story was posted by CNN. The screenshots come from two Twitter accounts claiming to be
CNN Ukraine and CNN Afghan Both accounts have not been verified - the blue tick is missing, as can be seen in the screenshots. “CNN Ukraine” was only created in February 2022 and had almost 130 followers (- archived HERE ).
These two accounts have since been blocked on Twitter.
Who is Bernie Gores?
If you search the CNN website , no results appear for “Bernie Gores.”
However, if you search for the photo of the man pictured, the result will be a certain “Jordie Jordan” – better known online as “WingsOfRedemption”.
Jordan is an American Twitch streamer and former Call of Duty commentator who also runs a YouTube channel .
Conclusion
“Bernie Gores” is actually Jordie Jordan, at least his photo was used.
Jordie Jordan is alive, he last streamed a video on his YouTube channel on February 27th, 2022.
The two Twitter accounts of CNN Afghanistan and CNN Ukraine are fake and have now been blocked.
The published photos were stolen, garnished with a made-up name and were NOT posted by CNN!
