“Compensation for Fraud Victims”: Beware of scam emails
“Compensation for Fraud Victims”: Beware of scam emails

“Hello dear beneficiary
The European Union compensates all victims of fraud. Your email address was found in the list of fraud victims. A total of EUR 1,000,000 will be paid as compensation for all cases of fraud. We are very sorry for your losses. A NOTE. Submit the following information for your injury claim.

Your
name: ……………………………..
Your address: ……… ……….
Copy of the passport ……….
Your country: …………
Telephone number: ……….
.. Contact us for more information"

But be careful, this is a classic advance payment scam and there is also a risk of identity theft.

We already warned about this scam in 2021 ( HERE ), at that time “EU Compensation” was listed as the sender.

Detect fraudulent emails

The art of recognizing such fraudulent emails lies in the details. Typically, such messages are sent from email addresses such as Gmail and not from official EU authorities. The salutation is often impersonal, e.g. B. “Hello dear beneficiary”, and the text contains language errors that indicate the dubious nature of the message.

What to do if you receive such an email?

If such an email arrives in your inbox, there is no need to panic. Mark the message as spam, do not respond to it, and definitely do not provide any personal information.

If you have already responded to the fraudsters, it is advisable to inform the police immediately, file a report and break off contact with the fraudsters.
