At the beginning of the new year, those affected can now have these paid out. But: Even if you don't have a voucher, you can request a refund for services not provided.

“The statutory voucher solution should protect companies from insolvency and thus ensure that consumers do not go away empty-handed,” explains Tiana Schönbohm, legal expert at the Lower Saxony Consumer Center. “Since the beginning of 2022, providers have been obliged to pay out vouchers that have not been redeemed.” However, the Corona voucher is not a prerequisite for this. Anyone who has previously missed having a voucher issued can, in principle, receive compensation from the provider for services not provided during the lockdown.

Whether with or without a voucher: In order to get the money, those affected should request the organizer or company in writing for a refund - ideally by registered mail and with a reasonable notice period. “Consumers have three years to assert their claim. After that, it becomes statute-barred,” explains the legal expert.
