The Wolfsburg police warn of a new form of trick fraud.

Unknown people call their victims and pretend to be bank employees. You explain to the person you are calling that he was infected with the corona virus during one of his last visits to the bank. This means that his valuables such as cash and coins would also be infected and would have to be thoroughly cleaned.

The person called should therefore leave their cash in a bag in front of the door. These would then be picked up by a bank employee and brought back after successful disinfection. That's what happened on Wednesday afternoon in Helmstedt.

An unknown person called an 81-year-old from Helmstedt, pretending to be an employee of a large banking company and engaging him in a conversation. The senior also told the fake bank teller that he had gold coins.

As a result, the unknown person gained the trust of the pensioner, who fell for the unknown person and left his gold coins in a bag on the doorstep for supposed disinfection.

After a short while he began to have doubts, but by then it was already too late. The bag with the coins disappeared, never to be seen again.

The police expressly warn against this new scam! Do not give any information about your cash assets over the phone. Be suspicious and question.
