People tell us their stories. People send us their “My Corona Story” (sic!)

It's not easy for me to write it all down like that because I've had word-finding problems since I was in the hospital and I sometimes twist letters around or simply type incorrectly without actually noticing it! I therefore hope that my mistakes will be forgiven.

I have to start with the fact that I have a pre-existing condition with UC (with 90% colon removed), asthma and PSC.
In mid-February 2021, I felt absolutely miserable on a Friday morning.
I had difficulty breathing, my limbs, head and bones ached badly and I felt very nauseous around midday. As I got worse, my fever rose. I thought a good night's sleep (if you can call it that when you have to go to the toilet every 2.5 - 3 hours!) would do me good.

On Saturday morning I had a very dry and strong cough that couldn't be calmed down by my asthma medication and tricks, and even got worse in some cases.
Saturday afternoon the fever was 41° and I dragged myself to the toilet with the support of my wife. She then called the emergency medical doctor. My wife sent her to the pharmacy to get me painkillers and fever-reducing medications. Meanwhile I was spitting out EVERYTHING I drank or ate!

On Sunday my wife gave me cold compresses (on the doctor's advice!).
On Monday morning at 8 a.m. our family doctor was at the door for the ECP test. He tests my wife and me. On Tuesday I felt better and was able to eat clear broth with some toast for the first time.
On Wednesday we got the results: both positive, both quarantined!
Thursday was the first day where I was able to slowly get up and FINALLY take a shower again without the risk of falling over.

That was Corona? Well, ok, I thought!

On Friday morning I woke up at 5am after a very restless night. I felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest. I took 50mg of cortisone and my emergency doser. NO EFFECT!

Since it was getting worse and worse and I needed one breath per word, my wife called 112. After 20 minutes the ambulance was there and took me to the hospital with breathing support, where I was then given oxygen.
According to the doctor in the emergency room, my oxygen levels were 'really bad'. I then spent 4 weeks on the ward, in a small room, by myself.
THAT was actually the worst for me. I wasn't even allowed to go out and get water, tea or coffee. My mood sank to zero in the first week and the ward doctor diagnosed depression. I was only treated with cortisone, breathing aerosols and my UC medication.

After I finally got out of the hospital, I had to stay in quarantine because I was still positive (after 5 weeks?). On the fourth day of quarantine I tested negative for the second time.

Headaches and difficulty finding words

When I started working again, I noticed that I got tired VERY quickly and couldn't concentrate on my work on the screen.
I also still had slight breathing problems. Well, I had an appointment with a pulmonologist in two months! ☹ In the evening I kept having headaches and severe difficulty finding words.

My family doctor gave me hope that this would go away quickly.
Well, now it's the end of November. My breathing is OK again, but the tiredness / fatigue after working for a short time remains. When I'm even slightly stressed, I also have trouble finding words, which is very problematic because I work in advertising/foil labeling and my customers also notice it. ☹ Spelling mistakes keep creeping in that I hardly ever made before!

These two problems in particular are VERY stressful for me because sometimes I stand there and struggle for words. Personally, this problem is very embarrassing for me because I deal with a lot of people and live in a small town!

That was supposed to be “short”!
