People tell us their stories. People send us their “My Corona Story” (sic!)

In response to our call to tell us your Corona stories, we received some descriptions. In this article we summarize shorter narratives from four people.

1. Severe tiredness still comes in fits and starts today

I tested positive at the end of March 2021, my husband “took it” from the company. The course was like a worse cold, but with massive sleepiness, I often slept 15-18 hours a day.

Severe fatigue still comes in fits and starts today, but overall it is better. My sense of smell and taste are not yet completely back (e.g. I don't taste garlic or smell the nail polish remover). I have severe difficulty concentrating, often have difficulty finding words and am extremely short of breath.

Cardiologist and pulmonologist confirmed that everything is fine.

2. My Corona story is relatively unspectacular

I went on 11/11. to my family doctor with flu symptoms such as a runny nose, cough, fever. At this point I hadn't thought about Corona yet. It wasn't until my son called on Saturday (November 13th) and said he was positive that I tested myself - also positive.

At that time, my symptoms had not gotten much worse, and I had lost taste and smell.
The fever was at most 38.5°C, which was okay for me. On Monday (November 15th) I went for the PCR test, the result on Tuesday afternoon was positive. Since I've been there since November 11th. was home anyway, the quarantine wasn't surprising. The symptoms improved over the course of the week, and by Eternal Sunday I was feeling relatively well - a slight cough and runny nose remained.

It was difficult to get information about when exactly the quarantine begins: with the self-test on Saturday, the swab on Monday or the result on Tuesday? I couldn't find anything about it online, not even on the homepage of “my” health department. A phone call brought the following certainty: the quarantine begins with the PCR test, for me on Monday.

There's still a small cough, but I've been going back to work since yesterday; a self-test yesterday was negative.
Oh well: on June 16th. I got my second vaccination with Moderna.

3. I'm fine at the moment

As a high-risk patient, I was particularly careful with contacts. I have been vaccinated twice, but the second vaccination was more than half a year ago. I didn't have an appointment for the booster vaccination, no capacity, no vaccine.

So far I've had a mild course, a runny nose, headache, elevated temperature. I can't report anything about long-term effects yet, I'm doing well at the moment, I think the vaccination protected me from a serious course.

4. My infection was in March, in the middle of the biggest lockdown.

It started with fatigue and pain and then quickly turned into a comatose vegetative state that lasted a whole week.
I hardly drank, didn't eat anything and lost 7 kg in the week.

To this day, my taste for coffee is gone, I have shortness of breath and a constant need for sleep.
