A screenshot of an article causes concern and probably even more panic buying.

The screenshot states that all Kaufland branches in Germany are now closed due to the increased risk of infection from the new coronavirus - a nightmare for many customers!

“Due to the increased risk of infection caused by the new coronavirus, the management of Kaufland Stiftung and Co KG Ralf Imhof and Evelyn Opel announced that the doors of all branches in the Federal Republic will be closed from Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. “We regret having to inform our customers of this and hope that the situation will be defused soon,” said Ralf Imhof.”

You should recognize them by the spelling mistakes!

It is already suspicious when an alleged article is simply shared without a source, and it is even more suspicious when the often short texts are riddled with spelling errors, grammatical errors and missing punctuation marks.

When we just wanted to google the headline to see where the article actually came from, the automatic addition came in very handy because you can already see the supposed source!

Beware, fake news site!

Behind the Kölner Abendblatt is the offer from paulnewsman.com. This is an online offering where users should and are allowed to invent their own stories, which are packaged in a serious-looking design and a credible web address. In order to prevent misuse, Paul Newsman displays an explanation under each article and also states clearly that an article created with Paul Newsman should not be viewed as a reputable source. This note reads:

“This newspaper article was created with Paul Newsman. Here anyone can publish fake or satirical articles in various fictional magazines for free within seconds. Therefore, you should under no circumstances take this article seriously or use it as a reputable source.”

Kaufland denies this

The group also makes on Facebook that all branches will remain open as usual.

“With all the Corona hustle and bustle, there is an increasing number of false reports. There are currently rumors that Kaufland branches are closing. Don’t let yourself go crazy: our markets are open for you as usual!”

Conclusion

The article in the screenshot is not real news, but probably an article created using a “fake news generator”. Apparently it was reported for abuse and is no longer on Paul Newsman, but unfortunately the screenshot is still being distributed.
