And there it is again: the myth that Facebook would only show the posts of 25 friends.

three  now and is once again making the rounds on Facebook: “Thanks for the tip on how to get around FB... it works!! I have a completely new profile. I see posts from people I haven't seen in a long time. The new FB algorithm chooses the same people – about 25 – who will see your posts. Hold your finger on this post and click copy. Go to your page where it says “what are you doing”. Tap the empty field with your finger. Click “Insert.” The system is bypassed. Hello new and old friends!”

This one is also making the rounds in English-speaking countries: “Well, I finally did it!! Thank you everyone for telling me how to do the bypass. I wondered where everyone had been! This is good to know: It's ridiculous to have so many friends and only 25 are allowed to see my posts. I have ignored all these posts earlier, but It WORKS!! Thanks for the tip to circumvent Facebook… I now have a whole new profile. I see posts from people I didn't see anymore. Facebook's new algorithm picks the same people – around 25-who will see your posts. Hold your figure anywhere in this post and click “copy”. Go to your page where it says “what’s on your mind”. Tap your finger anywhere in the empty field. Click paste. This is going to circumvent the system.ĺ Hello new and old friends, Hello! PLEASE SAY HELLO IF YOU SEE THIS hello”

What’s with this “trick”?

Nobody, except the Facebook programmers themselves, knows the Facebook algorithm, which posts you see, when and from whom. Facebook itself clarified :

“We organize the news feed based on which posting might be relevant to the user. Although we have made some adjustments that may increase the number of visible posts from friends, the News Feed is not limited to 25 contacts.”

The Facebook algorithm “trick” also has a huge logic flaw

This error is so simple that we would be ashamed not to have figured it out straight away: even if this ominous algorithm existed, it cannot be outwitted using this method ! Here's a user's comment from back then:

“Suppose there really was this algorithm according to which the same 25 users could always read you. Who would then see this posting here? These 25 users. And then who would be able to write “Hello” or whatever under here? These 25 users, because only they see it. You wouldn’t be able to reach more or different friends with the posting.”

We don't need to add anything to this!
