The alleged €1,000 voucher from IKEA caused a stir and at the same time changed its design. The original form as we described it is inactive and only serves as a redirect.

Instead of the old process, in which a competition form from the provider red lemon media GmbH was displayed, there is an overlay that leads to another page that displays magazine subscriptions in quantities. We embedded this changed course in a 120-second video

The overlay

Everything begins completely normally: a voucher is advertised by a user on Facebook. In this case the “1000 € voucher from IKEA”. If you click on the status message, a like page opens. Anyone who thinks they can win a voucher and fills everything out neatly will make themselves a viral distributor, but will probably not be a winner.

As a rule, a page opens with a form from the organizing data collector. But not anymore! This page fades into the background and you should first take part in a smartphone competition.

That is new! You can still see the old “red lemon” page in the background, but you can’t access it.

Straight into the full

The page to which you are now directed no longer has anything to do with the IKEA luring method. Dull questions, the possibility of winning a smartphone and data queries come onto the screen quite quickly.

And then the heart appears: a page with a large number of magazine subscriptions.

Interestingly, the grayish page with the IKEA competition is still open in the background, on which we are informed that we should first fill out the open form completely. In plain language: hand over data and put yourself at risk of getting a magazine subscription.

No chance of the old competition

Interestingly, this situation does not change. No matter what you do on this new page, the original data trap with the lure of the IKEA voucher is no longer accessible.

So you can assume that the strategic direction has been changed here and the voucher does nothing other than lure you to a page for magazine subscriptions.
