For a few hours now, new pages that call themselves “MAC Germany” have been floating around on Facebook. We actually wanted to report on one of these sites, but in the middle of our research, this site disappeared and was no longer available.

This page already had over 30,000 fans. However, a short time later there was new page on Facebook

This page is about:

Apparently Facebook users can win various things here!

The question that many people are probably asking themselves is... WITH WHOM? Who is the organizer? Who can a participant contact? When will the raffle take place? Where are the conditions of participation? Where is there a contact option?

Far and wide there is a yawning emptiness and everything is just “Gschisti-gschasti”

The operators of the site post the following content:

The status contribution in detail:

Now you have the opportunity to buy one of our stores empty for €2900!

If you want to take part you must:

1. Like the photo
2. Write “2900” as a comment
3. Share the photo

We'll find a winner on Sunday!

The status post makes absolutely no sense and we really hope that Facebook users don't let themselves be taken for a ride. The mere statement: “We will find a winner on Sunday” is so cheap and dubious that alarm bells should already be ringing. Just “on Sunday” is a stupid statement that REUTABLE COMPETITION SITES would never use. Because every week is a Sunday Winking smiley

Another post from the site mentioned:

Same crap, only you don't find the winner on Sunday, but on Monday!

Conclusion:

Just like the first page with over 30,000 fans of “MAC Germany”, we hope this will soon be history again on Facebook. Until then, we hope that many users will read our report here so as not to fall into a possible trap.

It's all nonsense - we say, but we're happy to be proven wrong!

Who are we actually dealing with? There is no reference to this in the information:

Reason:

  1. no imprint. Who are we dealing with here?
  2. no terms of use or no conditions of participation. Who is actually allowed to take part in a competition here? (location, age, etc.)
  3. Announcement of the winner. Where and how is a user contacted?
  4. Where is the notice that the competitions are not connected to Facebook?

Cheap and illegal tricks!

Such competitions, in which you have to share the post in order to win, are very cheap and illegal tricks to win more fans for your page.
In 99.9% of cases, as we have described above, there is no real profit behind it!

Dear friends of brass music! Those who fool other users!

Especially for you, the competition guidelines on Facebook:

E. Promotions

1. If you use Facebook to report on or organize a promotion (e.g. competitions or raffles), you are responsible for the proper conduct of this promotion; this includes the following elements:

a.
The official regulations, b. the offer conditions and selection criteria (e.g. age and residence restrictions) and

c. compliance with applicable rules and regulations governing the Promotion and any prizes offered (e.g. registration and obtaining necessary regulatory approvals).

2. Promotions on Facebook must contain the following elements:

a.
A complete exemption from Facebook by each participant. b. Acknowledgment that the promotion is not affiliated with Facebook and is in no way sponsored, endorsed or organized by Facebook.

3. Promotions can be organized on pages or apps on Facebook. Personal timelines and friendship connections may not be used to organize promotions (for example, requests such as “share this post to your timeline to enter” or “increase your chances of winning by sharing on your friends’ timeline” and “tag your friends in this post). “to participate” are not permitted).

4. We will not assist you in organizing your promotion and you agree that if you use our service to organize your promotion, you are acting at your own risk.

We will keep an eye on the site mentioned, as well as other sites that follow the same pattern, and take further steps if necessary!
