Back in August 2017, we reported on a letter that was supposed to be a code of conduct for the North Rhine-Westphalia police in matters of foreign crime.

This letter is once again making the rounds on social networks. It is about this letter: We ourselves published an article about this letter August 16, 2017 A fake: The letter from the Ministry of the Interior is a fake!” published.

The alleged letter from Minister Herbert Reul circulating on social networks is a blatant forgery.

On August 15, 2017, the North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of the Interior published the following tweet:

The post with the headline “Police should cover up criminal offenses committed by migrants” contains a facsimile of an alleged letter from the minister to the “Police President for Cologne and Leverkusen”.

In this, Minister Reul should instruct the head of the authority on official ministerial letterhead to cover up crimes committed by refugees and people with a migration background. In addition, an alleged “regulation on the behavior of the police officers of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in matters of foreign crime” is attached. Both documents are fictitious and have no basis whatsoever.

Interior Minister Herbert Reul made the following statement:

“This perfidious forgery shows us once again how brazenly intellectual arsonists create sentiment against foreigners. The timing of publication almost six weeks before the federal election is probably no coincidence. I can only ask the citizens of North Rhine-Westphalia not to fall for such propaganda and to be critical of alleged messages on social networks.”

At that time, the state police began criminal investigations.
