Wittenburg (LK Ludwigslust-Parchim): The Schwerin district court ordered a mass genetic test to find the mother of a dead baby found at the beginning of March

As 'NDR' reports, one of the largest mass genetic tests in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has been underway since Wednesday.

After a dead baby was found at a sports field in Wittenburg at the beginning of March, the police want to find the girl's mother.

On the first day, 310 women voluntarily appeared for the saliva test.

The police asked around 1,700 women between the ages of 15 and 45 to take a saliva test by post - participation is on a voluntary basis.

The oral cavity is swabbed with a long cotton swab. The person's DNA can be determined via saliva and dead skin particles.

The tests should be completed by the weekend.

The baby was found dead by walkers at the beginning of March. An autopsy revealed that it was still alive at birth.

Since the dead girl was found near the highway, it cannot be ruled out that unknown people could have dropped the child off while passing through.
