However, the incident did not take place in July 2017 but in 2016 . An online seller from Duisburg tried to sell a baby on eBay classifieds. The price: 5,000 EUR. The police investigated. Human trafficking on eBay – suspects identified
In execution of a decision issued by the Duisburg District Court at the request of the Duisburg Public Prosecutor's Office, the police searched the apartment of a refugee family in Duisburg-Rheinhausen in the evening (October 12) as part of an investigation initiated today on suspicion of human trafficking.
The basis was a sales advertisement for a baby that was offered for sale on an internet trading platform on Tuesday for EUR 5,000.
The officers handed a 40-day-old girl into the care of the youth welfare office and took the parents with them for questioning.
They secured evidence in the apartment.
According to initial investigations, the ad was placed via the couple's internet connection, which is also used by other family members. The investigation was ongoing. ( Source )
