Numbers are a great thing. You can prove and disprove them so much. People trust numbers.

And when numbers spread in right-wing and xenophobic groups and pages, they are often believed without hesitation.

Luckily, you can also check numbers!

On that status picture it says:

“Asylees receive €9.68/day for food and drink.
Police dogs are fed for €6.90 per day.
For Hartz IV recipients, 4.62 €uro/day is earmarked for food and drink.”

A clear core message

Hartz IV recipients receive the least, but these asylum seekers receive the most money. Of course, the upstanding citizen's throat swells and there is corresponding outrage in the comments.

UPDATE! We have rewritten the report here from here!

The calculation in the picture above is not correct and is absolutely incomprehensible in a direct comparison . Apples are being compared with oranges here.

For our list, we compared a single Hartz IV recipient (ALG II recipient) with a single asylum seeker (source Berlin.de ) and came to the following conclusion.

Both receivers have almost the same statistical daily rate.

For a single asylum seeker, a total of EUR 141.85 is allocated from Department 1: Food, non-alcoholic drinks .
For a single Hartz IV (ALG II) recipient, a total of EUR 141.65 is also provided from Department 1: Food, non-alcoholic drinks .

In detail:

Statistical breakdown for single asylum seekers

Note: This invoice only applies if the asylum seeker is accommodated in a reception facility where benefits in kind (sections 1, 3, 4, 6) are provided.

The figures given are official statistical models, which may differ by a cent or two in different calculations.

Conclusion:

A single asylum seeker has almost the same statistical daily rate (Department 1: food, non-alcoholic drinks) as a single Hartz IV (ALG II) recipient.

However, the difference is that an asylum seeker does not receive this payment if he is accommodated in a reception facility where benefits in kind (sections 1, 3, 4, 6) are provided .

The Hartz IV recipient, on the other hand, receives the statistical daily rate as a direct payment.
