Criminals send mass emails to Internet users claiming that the recipients' systems have been hacked!

As our cooperation partner Watchlist Internet reports, the fraudsters claim to have recorded videos via the webcam that are intended to show the recipients masturbating.

In order to prevent the recordings from being distributed, 2000 euros in Bitcoins are required. There is no need to worry because it is an extortion attempt and the videos do not exist.

A lot of fraudulent extortion emails are sent with a subject like “I hacked your device and now you have a problem…”. You may also have found such an email in your inbox. The senders claim to have taken over your system some time ago and thereby gained access to your webcam.

You were recorded masturbating and the corresponding video files mentioned in the email were created. So that these videos are not sent to your contacts, you have to pay 2000 euros in the form of Bitcoins.

The text of the fraudulent email, which was also addressed to Watchlist Internet, is as follows:

Hello.

I think you won't be happy because I have very bad news for you.

A few months ago (02/03/2019) I hacked your operating system and have full control of your device.

I have implanted a small application into your device that sends me your current IP address and allows me to connect to your device like on a remote desktop. Even if you change your password, it doesn't help.

How did I infect you?

The router through which you connected to the Internet had a security vulnerability.

You can learn about this issue by searching CVE-2018-10562.

I hacked your router and put my code in it. When you tried to connect to the Internet, my program infected your device.

Later I made a complete copy of your hard drive (I have all your email contact lists, the list of websites you visit, phone numbers, passwords, etc.).

A little later, when I was browsing your web browser history, I was shocked by what I saw!!

The adult websites you visit… you know what I mean…

I just want to say – your fantasies are way off course!…

For the last 2 months I have been spying on you using your device camera.

Especially if you visited these sites to have fun.

These videos clearly show that you are having fun and the adult content you have been watching. This is pretty nasty and I would be very worried if I were you.

I have saved 4 videos:

Contact_watchlist-internet_at_1555702392.mp4 (122.8 MB)

Contact_watchlist-internet_at_1556935524.mp4 (12.8 MB)

Contact_watchlist-internet_at_1556878288.mp4 (18.2 MB)

Contact_watchlist-internet_at_1558666861.mp4 (12.9 MB)

You can check if the timestamps correspond to the moments that amused you.

Since I don't like what I saw at all (that's pretty crazy and ugly), I ask you to send me a donation via the Bitcoin network.

2000 euros is a fair price (taking into account your perversions).

If you want me to forget the entire case, remove the files and disable the evil app that is spying on you, send me the Bitcoin payment within 72 hours. Yes, I only give you 72 hours.

Here is my wallet:

=======================================

Send exactly 0.317138 BTC to my address:

3GugKzwYEghTH8uJ08io0TGupjeK7SXYZ (address changed)

(Copy and paste - case sensitive) =======================================

0.317138 BTC = 2000 euros

If you don't send me the Bitcoin, I promise you that I will

4 files will be sent with you to all your contact lists, co-workers and friends on social networks.

I still have access to your device and know when you read this message. When you opened it, time started ticking.

You only have 72 hours!

I am from Russia and no one will help you if you report this email. Before they find me, your life will be ruined! If you don't cooperate with me, I will publish this ugly material immediately.

That's why I advise you - send me the Bitcoin and let's forget about the whole situation. I know you can afford it.

If you don't know how to send Bitcoin, go to Google and search how to do it. There are many options like CoinBase.

Here is my address again:

=======================================

Send exactly:

0.317138 BTC

to my address:

3GugKzwYEghTH8uJ08io0TGupjeK7SXYZ (address changed)

=======================================

Remember to send the exact amount as above! This way I will know from you.

Do not be angry with me. This is just my job, and you are not the only person I caught.

Be angry with your fantasies. If you weren't visiting these adult websites, you wouldn't have a problem. But now …

I'm waiting for your Bitcoin.

Remember, time is ticking..

What's behind it?

It is a blackmail email that is sent en masse. Through the fictitious content, the criminals try to intimidate you and get you to pay the Bitcoin amount. The video files mentioned do not exist.

Can you ignore the message?

Yes, you can safely ignore the message. Your system has not been hacked and no videos have been recorded via your webcam. There is some evidence that the blackmail email is being sent on a mass scale.

The email is written generically so that only the email address and the name of the video files have to be changed when sending. Maybe you don't have a webcam or have never accessed pornographic content on your computer.

If the recordings mentioned actually existed, it would be likely that you would be sent corresponding excerpts instead of just giving file names to intimidate you.
