“Something bad has happened, please call me…” These are the words that lure a SPAM SMS.

We again received inquiries about a text message that allegedly led to a money trap. We already had to deal with this news in 2013. This is what the message in question looks like:

What's behind it?

These are SPAM SMS. These are or were sent by software in 2013. This software independently generates different numbers and sends the SMS.

If you have received such a text message, DO NOT call. Such a call can be chargeable and you are usually stuck in endless waiting queues!

NOTE: It is now 2018. However, the spam SMS dates back to 2013 and is now 5 years old. In other words, this has now developed into a chain letter. We are currently not aware of any cases of this!

What was worth noting in 2013?

1) Don't call
2) Delete

The following SMS messages are and have been known so far:

    • Something bad happened, please call me 015251757385
    • Something bad happened, please call me 01701000300
    • Something bad happened, please call me 03035505503

    • Something bad happened, please call me 06982365649
    • Something bad happened, please call me 01701000300
    • Something bad happened, please call me 03070130444
    • Why did you publish your tan numbers on the internet? Please call back 06953095639
    • I need your help. Please call me briefly 06953095639

In 2013, the Lower Saxony State Criminal Police Office / Central Prevention Office published the following information about this.

We received similar SMS messages, so we initially suspected some kind of phishing related to online banking. After a few searches on the Internet and checking the phone numbers displayed, we came to the conclusion that unknown perpetrators are trying to temporarily paralyze locksmith services that, for example, offer a 24-hour emergency service.

Competitors to these services may attempt to harm competitors by using a “DDOS call attack”.

There were comparable cases several years ago where owners of locksmith services were besieged with worried calls around the clock due to callbacks due to such SMS and hardly any orders were received.

The financial damage can be enormous for a company.

The various phone numbers that are displayed on your site (ZDDK note: see above) also belong to a special locksmith service. It is therefore very likely that a special locksmith service will be damaged in this way again.

We also advise you not to call these numbers to avoid further damaging the affected service provider!
