It is still unclear what happened in which a twelve-year-old boy was critically injured in Euskirchen on Thursday afternoon.

Due to the overall circumstances, the Bonn public prosecutor's office and the Bonn homicide commission took over the investigation on Friday morning.

On Thursday, September 22, 2016, around 6 p.m., the Euskirchen police received information from doctors at the hospital there about a 12-year-old boy who had been admitted in the afternoon with serious injuries. According to previous findings, a teacher called an emergency doctor around 2:30 p.m. because the 12-year-old student was complaining of severe pain and was dazed. The boy was then first flown to a hospital in Euskirchen and then to a clinic in Cologne in a rescue helicopter. According to the treating doctors, there is a risk of life for the injured person.

In the course of the immediate investigation, there were indications that other students could have injured the 12-year-old.

The Bonn homicide commission, headed by Chief Detective Dietmar Kaiser, began the investigation in close coordination with public prosecutor Ulrich Kleuser.
