For a few hours now, operators (admins) of Facebook pages have been reporting to us again and again that Facebook is threatening to publish your NAME including PROFILE PICTURE in the info section if the admin does not remove an inappropriate post from their page.

We received this screen from an administrator.

Note: This information is displayed to operators of SITES, but not PRIVATE PROFILES!

Please check your page content

If you continue to post inappropriate posts, you may be asked to publicly disclose your name and profile picture in the “About” section of this page.

Would you like to unpublish [status post] so you can clean up your account? YES NO

The “About” section means that area on a page:

According to Facebook, the admin's real name including his profile picture should appear here.

A step in the right direction from Facebook?

Are fakers and fraudsters now on the hook? Does Facebook get serious and show users/fans which admin is “hiding” behind which page, for example when it comes to dubious competitions, fakes or even inflammatory pages?

SITE ADMINS. We need your support!

At the moment we don't know why this information exists. We also don't know which status posts (in terms of content) are affected. We don't know why Facebook administrators THREATEN to publish your real name or profile picture!

If you have received such a warning/information/threat, please take a screenshot of it (including the status post in question) and send it to us by email to [email protected]

We want to collect this information and find a common denominator.
