It happens all the time that men are blackmailed on Facebook!

It's not new, but men still fall for this nasty scam.

This is about a phenomenon that we reported in 2015

These are usually organized gangs that mostly operate from abroad. First, fake profiles are created on Facebook, which are fed with revealing images and false information. Within a short period of time, an attempt is made to get in touch with other, mostly male, users by sending friend requests.

The user's head will be turned!

The new “girlfriend” involves the user in a chat conversation and skillfully turns the male conversation partner’s head. As a result, this fake profile persuades the user to no longer only exchange ideas via Facebook chat, but also via webcam or SKYPE!

The fraudsters wrap the user around their finger and persuade them to exchange pictures and videos with sexual content .

Blackmail follows!

Such incidents have occurred again and again in recent years. For example, a 17-year-old was B. contacted by a woman on Facebook last year and blackmailed after a Skype chat! After a conversation in the Facebook chat, she asked the 17-year-old to Skype with her. There the lady performed sexual acts on herself and asked the 17-year-old to also take off his clothes .

The boy should now also undress and perform sexual acts on himself.

The boy complied with the request. At the end of the chat, he was contacted again and asked via the Facebook chat to transfer EUR 5,000 via Western Union to an account in France

If he didn't do this, the saved recording would be published on YouTube. The boy filed a complaint at that time.

Warning about sex trap on Facebook

The police have been warning about sex blackmailers on the Internet for years: They seduce men into masturbating in front of the camera - and then threaten to show the videos on Facebook or YouTube. The victims of the blackmailers are contacted on social networks by women they do not know, who then suggest adding each other as friends on Facebook and then continuing the conversation on a video platform such as Skype, as the Giessen police said.

There the women appeared naked and asked the people they were talking to to take off their clothes and play with themselves. The videos of the men masturbating are saved.

Mimikama TIP

Fell into the trap – what to do?

  • Break off contact immediately and end the chat!
  • Do not pay! Experience has shown that paying does not protect against publication. Quite the opposite! More demands follow and the blackmail doesn't end !
  • Don't let anyone blackmail you into further sexual acts in front of the camera!
  • If you're a minor, you can also try replying with the following text: "I'm the father/mother of the guy you just filmed. According to §207a “Pornographic representation of minors”, it is forbidden to take, possess and publish pornographic images of people under 18. If you do so, I will not shy away from filing a complaint.” Because this paragraph applies throughout Europe and the threat alone often deters fraudsters.
  • If you actually discover a video of yourself on a platform, contact the site operator immediately. Especially Facebook e.g. B. deletes videos with sexual content very quickly.

The police also warned about this in 2017:
