Facebook classified a right-wing extremist network as a “dangerous organization” and banned it from the platform. Hundreds of accounts and groups are affected.

Facebook has blocked a network of right-wing extremist groups! – The most important thing at the beginning:

A right-wing extremist network from the USA that was inspired by the Boogaloo movement has been classified as a “dangerous organization” and banned from Facebook.

Dangerous organization

Facebook took action against a right-wing extremist network in the USA. It has been deemed a “dangerous organization” and banned from the platform, Facebook announced on Tuesday:

“It actively seeks to promote violence against civilians, security forces, officials and government institutions.”

The anti-government network was based on the Boogaloo movement and often used its name. According to Facebook, Boogaloo content that incites violence is always deleted.

Rigorous deletion

In total, 320 accounts, 28 pages and more than 100 groups were deleted. There were also 220 Facebook accounts and 95 Instagram accounts, as well as 400 other groups and 100 pages that violated Facebook's guidelines and spread similar content to the network itself.

Posts that spread content that sympathizes with the network and thus call for support will also be deleted in the future.

Criticism of how we deal with hate and fake posts

Facebook is also reacting to the massive criticism it is receiving regarding its handling of hate postings and false reports. Facebook recently announced that it would do more to combat hate messages:

“As long as there are movements seeking violence in the physical world, they will also seek to exploit digital platforms.”
