Have you noticed that days of the week and times are underlined in Facebook Messenger?

For a few weeks now we have noticed that days of the week and other times are suddenly underlined in Facebook Messenger. These are hyperlinks that are normally only known from references. What is hidden behind these links? We took a closer look at it. Facebook itself has built a kind of calendar into Messenger. As soon as you write a day of the week or another time, such as “tomorrow”, it is automatically linked to an internal calendar that you as a user can now use. We have briefly explained how the whole thing works in this report.

There are two ways to plan a date together!

Either you use the calendar symbol below the text field.

One click – and you can “start a plan”. Alternatively, you can also click directly on a day of the week or on another time if you have written it directly in your text. For our test we sent the following message on Facebook:

Hi! tomorrow's Monday appointment still works for you? I thought we would meet in the evening. Is that ok for you?

It looks like this in the chat:

imageIf you now move your mouse over “ tomorrow ”, a small window opens and you can plan an appointment.
Here in the example we have a meeting with Andre on August 13, 2017 at 00:00 in Rome.

After clicking on “Start plan”, it will be displayed directly in the conversation/messenger.
Facebook will then remind the creator and the recipient of the appointment one hour in advance. However, if something changes on this date, you can change the plan. To do this, simply click on “Change plan” and you can change the date and time. As a participant, you can now see in the chat window itself that you have planned an appointment.

Which words or times are automatically linked by Facebook?

In addition to the days of the week such as Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday tomorrow is also linked, but “ yesterday ” and “ today ” are not.
A nice idea from Facebook, especially if you have a group chat on Facebook and want to meet up with several people.
