Expensive is not an expression: in the end it costs €15 per week if you think you want to see a dramatic polar bear video. And there is no guarantee that you will actually see this video.

We have a status post here with a sensational title and thumbnail. This type of presentation is very reminiscent of the “shocking video” wave from spring 2014. At that time, this teaser was also used very frequently and Facebook users were irritated by a pseudo-preview. At this time, too, unknown actors tried to lure the Facebook community into various traps with sensational titles and eye-catching preview images. Mostly they are cell phone subscription traps [ 1] [2].

And today, exactly two years later, the situation is no different.

Under false pretenses, Facebook users are redirected to a website that you first have to SHARE in order to see an alleged video. But that's not the case, because there is no VIDEO to see. After the user has shared the video again on Facebook, even more users will see this status post and click on it again. This triggers the viral wave.

The alleged age verification is nothing more than the visitor being directed to another page by clicking on the lettering. This link used is usually a commission link. This means: whoever installed this link will ultimately receive a commission if the visitor registers/participates on the following page.

And in this case, participation is expensive!

15 € per week!

“Download available” is stated on the following page, where you should enter your own phone number. This means you take on an expensive subscription of €15 per week. The service provider is called “Zigzagfone” and describes the costs in brief:

Zigzagfone is a subscription service. There is a cost of €15 per week plus WAP/GPRS costs, which are billed via the mobile phone bill. Cancellation is possible at any time, at http://www.mobile-info.cc, by telephone at 0800-298457 or by email [email protected] By registering, you agree to the General Terms and Conditions available here. After registering, you will receive a message with a link to the content portal. You must be at least 18 years old and an authorized account holder and/or have the consent of at least one parent and/or the account holder to register for and use the Service on your behalf.

If you're interested, you can now find the "customer details" of the person responsible for the polar bear lure trap in the address bar at the top. At the end, the commissions are also paid out to this partner ID. In other words: Zigzagfone (or their marketers) would have to know and be able to identify to whom they are paying this commission based on the following data:

trackid=2078989600& transaction_id= 102bcfb23c006a06992be51875efb5& affiliateid=1204& sii=1905&sik= at-uten& soi=3084&kv_variation=A#

So please be careful what kind of decoys you click on on Facebook!
