What does the magenta notification say?

The information comes via email or SMS, reports our cooperation partner Watchlist Internet . In both cases, you will be informed that you overpaid last year and can claim compensation. The message is:

What happens when I click on the link?

You land on a fake magenta page. Criminals request data such as name, address, telephone number as well as bank and credit card details.

A fake login page usually looks exactly like the real one. You can expose the fraud by taking a close look at the internet address. If the login page or phishing page is fake, the internet address is implausible.

What can I do if I have entered data on the fake site?

  • Contact your bank or credit card company. Explain that you entered your information on a phishing site. The employees will know best whether your card needs to be blocked.
  • Change your magenta password immediately.
  • Contact Magenta if you see anything unusual in your account and check out the Magenta blog for common phishing scams.
  • Beware of unusual calls. You may contact the criminals and give yourself e.g. B. as a bank to get you to approve a payment.
  • Report it to the police.

Detect fraudulent emails

  • Link: Links in emails or SMS are suspicious! Always log into your accounts as usual.
  • Impersonal salutation: Since phishing emails are sent en masse, you will only be addressed as “customer”.
  • Email address : Is the address plausible? Compare the address with another notification from Magenta.
  • Ask: Are you unsure about a notification? It's better to ask the company whether the message actually came from them.
