Hanover - Two previously unknown perpetrators posed as tradesmen in an apartment building on Julius-Brecht-Straße (Misburg-Nord) on Saturday afternoon (May 13, 2017) and thus obtained the bank card of an 86-year-old.

According to the current state of the investigation, the two men rang the elderly woman's doorbell at around 3:30 p.m. and, when asked, posed as chimney sweeps. The duo then entered the apartment on the first floor under the pretext of having to check the radiators. The 86-year-old woman was supposed to go to the bathroom while the perpetrators stayed in the remaining rooms.

After about 15 minutes, the fake craftsmen had finished their “work” and demanded that the woman hand over her debit card because she should be reimbursed. After the pensioner handed over the card, the fraudsters fled the apartment building in an unknown direction. Investigators are currently assuming that no other items were stolen from the 86-year-old.

One of the people we are looking for is around 30 years old, of stocky build and of Eastern European appearance. He has short, blonde hair and was wearing white sweatpants with blue stripes and a white T-shirt. His accomplice, who is around 20 to 25 years old, is known to have dark hair and was wearing dark sweatpants.

Witnesses are asked to contact the Hanover Criminal Investigation Service on 0511 109-5555.
