Bad Hönningen - Early on Monday afternoon (August 14, 2017, around 2 p.m.), two brazen thieves disguised as water technicians stole a three-digit amount of cash while staying in the apartment of an elderly resident of an apartment block on Rheinallee.

The men rang the lady's doorbell and pretended that there was a burst pipe in the house and that she should please turn on all the taps.
The two men dressed in dark clothing, both between 30 and 40 years old, one taller and stocky, were allowed into the apartment and, through a trick, found out about the wallet that had been left in a drawer. The victim later discovered that the banknotes were missing from her wallet and contacted a neighbor who called the police.
