Press releases or images are used to give the impression of an official site and thus cause confusion. Only verified sites with the following features are official offers from the NRW Police:
- A uniform name (NRW Police and name/name abbreviation of the authority); Example: Police NRW BO
- A uniform address (facebook.com/polizei.nrw.anwaltshorten); Example: Facebook.com/polizei.nrw.bo
- Usually verified; Circle with hook at top left (blue or gray)
- Police star with authorities logo
- Data for contacting people outside of Facebook is provided
