Seeheim-Jugenheim – After at least forty trick fraud attempts at the beginning of the week in Seeheim-Jugenheim, Pfungstadt and the surrounding area, civil investigators arrested two “fake police officers” in the act on Wednesday (August 30th).

A sprightly 80-year-old was called by the criminals on Tuesday.
The fraudsters tried to use the well-known scam to suggest to the woman from Seeheim-Jugenheim that her money was not safe in the bank and that she should hand it over to a supposed colleague. However, the pensioner became skeptical and called the police in Pfungstadt.
The fraudsters on the phone were led to believe that they could be successful with their bold scam. Instead of the loot, however, the handcuffs clicked the following day when the two alleged colleagues wanted to pick up the money and were arrested by civilian investigators. Those arrested are a 19-year-old woman and her 23-year-old accomplice. Both come from Rodgau. According to initial findings, the two suspects are likely to be involved in other, similar cases.
The investigations by Commissariat 24 of the Darmstadt Police Department are ongoing. In this context, the investigators ask that citizens from Seeheim-Jugenheim and Pfungstadt, who also received a suspicious call on Monday or Tuesday, contact the police in Darmstadt again (06151/969-0).
