Krefeld - On Tuesday (September 26, 2017) two men defrauded a senior citizen of a carpet sale in his apartment in Oppum. The police is now looking for witnesses.

At 4 p.m., a man called an 88-year-old from Krefeld and told him that he had already bought carpets from him - and now he wanted to give him a carpet because his business was closing. The alleged seller announced that he would come to the Krefeld man's home address in Oppum on the same day. The senior agreed to the offer.
A short time later, two men rang the 88-year-old's doorbell. He let the two of them into the apartment voluntarily. There the men first gave him a small carpet and then offered the man three larger carpets for sale. After a lengthy sales conversation, the man agreed. He paid for the goods with cash and jewelry.
The men then left the apartment under the pretext of getting the certificates for the carpets. However, they didn't come back.
The victim informed the police yesterday. The officers discovered that the carpets purchased were of inferior quality. It is not yet possible to say whether the fraudsters stole additional items.
