At around 3 p.m., an unknown man approached a retirement home on Main Street.

The tax office scam

He rang an 81-year-old woman's doorbell and pretended to be an employee of the tax office. Under the pretext that the older woman had allegedly not paid a bill and that he now had to collect the money from her personally, the stranger asked the 81-year-old to hand over money to him. When the victim wanted to get the money, the perpetrator followed the lady, took several hundred euros in cash and quickly left the apartment.

Police are looking for witnesses

It is said to be a man around 50 years old with a gaunt face, light complexion and short, dark hair. The perpetrator was wearing a blue top, dark pants and a green surgical mask. He spoke German without an accent. The Tuttlingen criminal police have started an investigation and are asking people who can provide information about the unknown fraudster or who have also been approached in this way to call 07461 941-0 .

The police advise

  • Do not allow strangers into your home in good faith.
  • Be alert if an unknown person tries to persuade you to enter.
  • If a stranger rings your doorbell and demands money or valuables, close the door and call the police!
