Don't believe all the headlines on Facebook, even if they sound tempting! Finance Minister Scholz does not recommend a Bitcoin platform that makes it easy to get rich.

Be careful of so-called “fabricated content” fake news, in which Germany’s finance minister supposedly recommends a simple Bitcoin system where you can easily get rich.

This is an investment spam in which the politician's name and images are misused on a fake media website.

In this case, fabricated content means that someone intentionally invents content in order to deceive others. In the end, it's not about ideological or political goals (the fact that Finance Minister Scholz shows up is more of a coincidence), but about economic criminal backgrounds.

The aim of this fake news is to encourage people to invest money in dubious Bitcoin platforms.

Finance Minister as bait

The process of this method is quite simple: a posting appears on social media that gives the impression that it is a media report, or even “breaking news”.

Fake: Finance Minister recommends Bitcoin
Fake: Finance Minister recommends Bitcoin

If you click on this posting, you will land on a website that is modeled on a well-known media website. There you will also find a supposed interview with the prominent person (in this case Finance Minister Scholz).

This pseudo-editorial text consists of an interview, which is, however, purely fictional. At the end you will be referred several times to another website where you should invest money.

This is the actual goal of the criminal process: using deception, you end up on a website that is not trustworthy. We know from previous similar cases that there is no profit and that the victims of the method not only lose their money, but do not even get the chance to work with the money.

Celebrities, fake news & Bitcoin

As just mentioned, this process is a form of fraud. No, Finance Minister Scholz does not recommend Bitcoin models. Neither do other celebrities who have fallen victim to the decoy method.
