On Sunday, November 20, 2016, shortly before 6 p.m., an attempted homicide occurred in the Hamelin city area. The suspected perpetrator turned himself in at the police station in Hamelin after the crime; the victim's life is in danger.

According to current findings, a rope was tied around the neck of the victim, a 28-year-old woman from Hamelin.

The perpetrator attached the end of the rope to the trailer hitch of a car on Königstrasse. The vehicle drove through Königstrasse, Prinzenstrasse and Kaiserstrasse, with the victim hanging on a rope and being pulled behind the car.

Under unknown circumstances, the victim remained lying on the sidewalk on Kaiserstrasse and was found seriously injured.

At almost the same time, a 38-year-old man from Bad Münder reported personally to the Lohstrasse police station and identified himself as the perpetrator of this crime. He allowed himself to be arrested without resistance.

The victim received emergency medical care on site and was then transported to a clinic in Hamelin.

After an emergency operation, she was flown to a special clinic in an intensive care helicopter that evening.

There is currently no information about the perpetrator's motive or the background to the crime.

Extensive forensic investigation measures are currently taking place in the streets mentioned.

Reports on social networks that a shooting had occurred cannot be officially confirmed.

The police are looking for witnesses to the crime. In particular, we are looking for people who observed the event on Kaiserstrasse (separation of the victim from the vehicle).
