Sure, you could say again that anyone who wants to play the spy here deserves to fall into a subscription trap. But that's not the point.

It's more about the brazen representation of an alleged listening function that doesn't work, even if it did work, would even be illegal and is ultimately nothing other than a lure method into a cost trap or into an affiliate competition. However, if you look at this video guide, it's ultimately all about this subscription trap.

But let's start at the beginning. A video shows how you can spy on other people's private messages (SMS/Facebook/WhatsApp etc.). Interestingly, this video shows in great detail what you have to click on and fill out in order to supposedly enjoy this spy software.

According to the video, you have to take out a subscription in order to be able to use the spy tool. But this is where the first deception begins: this alleged tool has absolutely nothing to do with the built-in affiliate links. This is just about directing you to these commission programs. But that's not the end of it!

The real kicker in the video comes now, because this explanatory video intentionally leads to a subscription. I have to admit, I have rarely seen such a blatant and obvious deception, because in the video the “explainer bear” makes no secret of the fact that you have to agree to an expensive subscription. But what follows is absolutely amazing. Apparently you can cancel the subscription with a reply SMS to the billing notification. A text message saying stop would be enough and you would even get your money back.

Of course this is simply nonsense!

In our analysis case it was an affiliate for a so-called “premium service”. Here it reads:

You agree to a subscription to our service for 12 euros (including VAT) per week. The deadline is automatically extended until you send Stop to 0900401050. A1 users: cancel your subscription at www.a1.net/abomanager. Every week you will receive 10 new download credits, which can be redeemed for mobile content on the website www.at.mundome.com (the content costs at least 2 credits per content item). The service costs 12 euros (including VAT) per week for 10 download credits (+ SMS/data fees from your cell phone provider). The costs appear on your mobile phone bill or are deducted from your mobile phone credit.

So you've definitely got rid of this €12, it won't be given back, even if that's what the video says. And that's exactly what it's about at this point: you fall for this expensive subscription trap because you believe these completely understandable instructions, which have a trap built in at this point.

And the tool?

Nobody is likely to achieve the promised greatness, especially since it cannot work at all. The spy tool promises that by entering any phone number you can access all SMS from that phone number. This is of course bullshit in this form and cannot be implemented.

And even if you do, you can commit a criminal offense without the consent of the cell phone owner! Our cooperation partner Watchlist Internet writes:

If “cell phone spy” software is installed and used without the consent of the cell phone owner, it can be a criminal offense . In addition, the right to data protection and the right to privacy violated, which can result in claims for injunctive relief and damages. In addition, it remains completely unclear how the software providers will continue to use the highly personal data .

Therefore: Stay away from dubious applications that promise to spy on other people's cell phones! And above all - as in this case - beware of (supposedly) free cell phone tracking/spying programs and apps : In reality, paid subscription traps .
