Mönchengladbach – On Friday evening, around 11 p.m., there was a serious traffic accident in downtown Mönchengladbach.

According to witness statements, two vehicles were racing on the four-lane refugee road, with the driver of a black Seat crossing into the oncoming lane at excessive speed and running over a pedestrian who wanted to cross the road, fatally injuring him in the process. The driver was a 28-year-old man from Schwalmtal.

The driver of the second car fled the scene of the accident. This vehicle is said to have been a silver Seat with an MG license plate. The deceased was a 38-year-old man who lived in Mönchengladbach. The speed at this point is reduced to 40 km/h. The investigation is ongoing. An expert was called in.
