Our Andre, on board an Austrian Airlines plane (part of the German Lufthansa) on the way from Vienna to Berlin.

The usual safety instructions but then a clear announcement is made

“THE GALAXY NOTE 7 MUST BE TURNED OFF COMPLETELY”.

This means he can confirm first-hand the reports that Lufthansa and Air Berlin do not want Samsung's extremely dangerous new flagship on board.

This is also reported by the mobile communications magazine “areamobile”, according to which Air Berlin has already decided that its passengers will not be allowed to use or charge the Galaxy Note 7 on board. The message from Air Berlin in full:

“The safety of passengers and crew is Air Berlin’s top priority. Until further notice, Air Berlin will prohibit the commissioning and charging of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 model in question on board and will inform passengers via an on-board announcement in advance of the flight.”

However, the situation at the Lufthansa Group is somewhat more confusing. Originally it was said that there were no considerations about banning guests from using them, but now there are voices that Lufthansa would now ban cell phones.

Travel blogger Sven Henning confirms…

In addition to Andre's experience, this is also confirmed by travel blogger Sven Henning, who quotes Lufthansa on Twitter as follows:

“We would like to point out that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 may not be used on board any Lufthansa flights.”

This probably also applies to the subsidiary Eurowings and, as Andre can confirm, to Austrian Airlines.
