Fraudsters are currently trying to request large amounts of money to be paid by letter. If they fail to pay, those affected are threatened with an international arrest warrant being issued.

The State Criminal Police Office warns against responding to such letters.

The Supreme Court in Istanbul is said to be conducting criminal proceedings against the recipients of the letters. An arrest warrant has already been submitted to the German government.

If the addressee does not appear for a supposed summons to a court hearing in Istanbul, the threatened arrest warrant would have international effect.

Reference is also made to an alleged confidentiality agreement from the Federal Criminal Police Office.

Those affected are accused of carrying out money laundering and distributing child pornography videos for a company called Soraplex, as well as having ties to terrorist organizations.

The addressee is also asked to contact an alleged employee of the Federal Criminal Police Office via a Frankfurt telephone number in order to discuss details.

CAUTION:

  • Don't let the supposed authenticity and seriousness of the letter unsettle you. Do not respond to these letters or call any telephone numbers provided. These are fraudsters who ask for payment from foreign call centers.
  • In the case of direct telephone calls to you, do not allow yourself to be drawn into conversations and discussions or put under pressure. End the conversation immediately.
  • If you have become a victim, immediately file a criminal complaint with your local police station.
