Only recently we warned about the fake €500 Lidl vouchers and now a €500 Amazon voucher using the same scam has appeared on Facebook.

Mimikama: Warning about...

Get a free €500 Amazon voucher (limited time only)

the user gets to read on Facebook.

But what happens if you can't help it?

If you click on the status post, you will be redirected to this website:

At the beginning, the user will find a countdown. He now has a little more than 300 seconds to collect this voucher.

Operators of such websites always like to use this ploy to put the user under pressure.

The user now has to follow 2 steps.

First of all, as is often the case, he has to share the page on Facebook and share the post in 5 groups of which the user is a member.

Once the user has done this, the following website opens with a competition form. Here, the user has to enter a lot of personal data, just like in the Lidl competition.

Conclusion:

On Facebook, the user is promised a €500 Amazon voucher. But before it even gets to that point, the user has to promote the post by first sharing it in their profile and then again in 5 Facebook groups. He will then be redirected to a competition form where he would have to enter his data.

Such competitions are already known from other status posts on Facebook. The user is promised something that never happens in this form. As in this case, there are marketing companies behind this that use this method to collect ADDRESS DATA, which in turn is passed on (sold?) to partner companies (sponsor list).

The user himself is then usually overwhelmed with advertising waste and spam emails.
