An employee of a food market on Gaußstrasse noticed a change in the ATM in the lobby on Thursday (February 3rd). A service technician who was called discovered two “skimming” modules. This is a gray plastic part that was attached to the upper right area of ​​the ATM. This has, among other things, a mini camera that films the PIN entry. There was another component in the card slot to read the magnetic strip of an inserted bank card.

With the information obtained (PIN and card data) it is possible to make copies and subsequently withdraw money. Installing the equipment probably only took a few minutes. The machine is only accessible during opening hours of the supermarket.
According to previous investigations, the device was prepared by a perpetrator on Wednesday morning (February 3) between 8:40 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. The stranger was dressed in dark clothing. He was wearing dark shoes with PUMA written on them in white. The timely discovery resulted in no financial loss.
