Apparently a “secret” change in the genetic engineering law now allows compulsory vaccinations in Austria. But none of that is true!

The claim is circulating on Telegram and YouTube that a publicly accessible federal law in Austria will amend the Medicines Act and the Genetic Engineering Act to such an extent that compulsory vaccinations will be possible in the future. But these changes are due to an EU regulation from 2014 and have nothing to do with the vaccinations - unless you believe that the vaccinations change the genetic material ( which they don't ).

The claim

Here is a screenshot of the claim as it circulates on Telegram:

Next government TRICK of the worst kind:
The government is quietly trying to change the Medicines Act and especially the part of the GENETIC ENGINEERING Act so that it no longer speaks against the compulsory obligation!
This would be the necessary legal requirement to be able to introduce compulsory obligation at all!
Now they are trying to change this quietly so that it is compliant.

The changes are also linked so that we can take a look at them for ourselves.

The government proposal

The government template is also linked in the relevant articles, see HERE .

The heading is “Medicines Act, Genetic Engineering Act, Amendment (1289 dB)”, the short description is “Federal law amending the Drugs Act and the Genetic Engineering Act”. The complete text of the law, the explanations and the text comparison can also be viewed and downloaded completely on the page.

What has changed now?

In the text comparison (see HERE , PDF file) it can be seen that a lot has been changed: some of them are just terms, but many points also appear to have been deleted or changed very significantly. The explanations (see HERE , PDF file) also describe in detail why these changes exist.

Adjustments to the regulations required

Accordingly, these changes are based on EU Regulation 536/2014 on clinical trials with medicinal products for human use. Since this regulation is now finally binding across Europe, the Austrian regulation must be adapted accordingly so that there are no duplicate regulations.
Laws were also summarized:
Safety regulations for gene therapies used to treat serious hereditary diseases were previously contained in the Genetic Engineering Act, but these are now being moved into the Medicines Act.

The EU regulation

This dates back to April 16, 2014 (see HERE ), but is only now being implemented - or rather, the implementation was announced in the Official Journal of the European Union in July 2021 (see HERE , PDF file).
This regulation will then be valid from February 2022. The reason for the long time between the publication of the EU regulation and its implementation results from the justification in the Official Journal and Article 82 of the EU regulation : Only now is the EU database and that EU portal fully functional so that the relevant data can be recorded and managed across Europe.

Yes, but… genetic engineering!!!

That's right, genetic engineering.
As already mentioned above: Genetic engineering in human medicine concerns gene therapies against serious hereditary diseases. But the COVID-19 vaccination is not gene therapy!
The mRNA vaccinations do not change the genetic material in any way; we discussed this HERE, . If gene therapies against serious hereditary diseases really worked so simply with an injection into the upper arm, it would be an incredible advance in science in order to cure those who were previously incurably ill, but unfortunately that is not the case.

Conclusion

The changes to the law have been on the agenda since 2014 and were finally decided in July 2021.
They concern the responsibilities of the ethics committees and clinical testing of drugs in gene therapy - so they have nothing to do with COVID-19 vaccinations at all. Throughout the text there is not the slightest hint that the changes are somehow related to “forced vaccinations”. Therefore, the claim that compulsory vaccination is now possible by merging the Genetic Engineering Act and the Medicines Act is far-fetched nonsense.
