Just like AmazonSmile, which will be discontinued , Gooding also supports non-profit associations or projects. There are currently over 2,100 well-known reward shops such as OTTO, eBay, Ikea or Deutsche Bahn and 15,000 non-profit organizations to choose from on the charity shopping platform. The German charity GmbH has been active since 2012 and has so far generated 8 million euros in donations.

Donate online shopping at no extra cost

Even though Amazon says that the AmazonSmile charity program did not achieve the desired effect, the discontinuation is a major setback in terms of financing for many affected charitable organizations, despite a one-off payment. Especially since it happens at such short notice.

“Most of our supporters shop online and have helped us through AmazonSmile. Therefore, Amazon’s decision hits us hard. Luckily, there is a portal like Gooding.de that allows each of our supporters to continue donating while shopping at over 2,000 other shops. They don’t pay a cent extra for that.”

Donors decide on the recipient organization

“Especially in times of rising costs and lower income, the loss of AmazonSmile is a hard blow for nonprofit organizations. We help every affected club to receive support from over 2,100 shops at Gooding.de without any effort,” explains managing director Felix Wassermann.and adds:

“Unlike AmazonSmile, the participating shops pay not just half a percent, but an average of five percent shopping bonuses.”

Felix Wassermann, Managing Director

Anyone who is registered with Gooding.de can track when their donation has been paid out to the beneficiaries. This usually happens when the purchase is completely completed and the goods have been paid for.

The principle of charity shopping platforms

Instead of accessing the desired online shop directly or via Google, you start shopping directly on Gooding.de and select the desired shop from over 2,100 providers. This small detour triggers a bonus payment from the retailer to the charity shopping portal when purchasing. On average, this is up to five percent of sales. The buyer decides, also by clicking on the platform, which charitable project this bonus will benefit. The donation is paid indirectly by the online retailers as part of so-called affiliate marketing.

This supports clubs in collecting donations

Clubs receive free flyer packages, graphics and templates on Gooding.de to draw attention to support via charity shopping. In addition, there are different banners that every club can put on their website. Participation in the donation program is free.

How is Gooding financed?

In its questions and answers, the charity platform answers this question as follows:

“Of course, the operation of the website, the continuous development of the service and, last but not least, our team cost money.
Nevertheless, Gooding is completely free for clubs and supporters. So that we can continue to offer our service in the future, we rely on the help of every supporter. We need 30% of the bonus to deploy and develop Gooding. That's why we set the so-called bonus share amount to 30% for every new Gooding user. Because we believe in the Gooding community, we allow every user to change this post before purchasing. Gooding shows the amount of the bonus transparently for each shop.
