Reutlingen - A suspicious perception at a vocational school center on Steinbeisstrasse led to a large-scale operation by police and rescue workers on Monday morning.

At around 10:30 a.m. the school management raised the alarm after several students reported a man who was said to have run into the school. He would have spoken to the students and asked them something, which they did not understand. As the man walked towards the school building, he is said to have had a firearm in his waistband. A short time later, the suspect left the area in an unknown direction and may have driven away on a motorcycle.

The police immediately deployed numerous forces, including special forces and two police helicopters. The school center was cordoned off, searched and the students were taken to the adjacent sports field after an acute threat could be ruled out. The police and emergency services had set up a meeting point there where the students were looked after and could seek help if necessary. In total, around 670 people were looked after by the emergency services. No one was injured. According to current knowledge, there is no evidence of a specific threat.
