Lübeck: On Friday evening (January 13, 2017), a small, older dog was found at the Sereetzer Feld motorway rest area.

The female Jack Russell terrier with the graying muzzle was tied to the rest area with a red rope.

A 58-year-old Lübeck woman who stopped there briefly at around 8:15 p.m. discovered the shaking, obviously abandoned dog and took him to the Lübeck animal shelter.

It was determined there that it was an 11 to 13 year old female dog and that the noticeable redness and crusting on her back was an allergy.

The Scharbeutz police, motorway and district police departments are investigating the violation of the Animal Welfare Act.

The investigators are asking for information on 04524 - 70 77-0 that could be helpful in identifying the dog's owner.

Someone may have also noticed a vehicle that turned off the A1 motorway in the direction of Fehmarn towards the rest area or drove back onto the motorway from there at the time mentioned above.

Note:

The dog is no longer in the animal shelter. The finder took care of the trusting four-legged friend.
