At the moment we are receiving a lot of requests for status posts on Facebook. On one image there is a message history between the phone number: +491788242708 and “I”

The creator of the status post also calls on a “guy” to be exposed and calls on the Facebook community to SHARE!

Here is the status post about it:

We searched for this number online, but couldn't find it.

Afterwards we called the number provided and heard the following tape:

“The number you dialed does not exist…”

Is the message in the picture real or not?

Whether the screenshot/message is real or not can only be answered by the creator at the moment!

The fact is that you can fake an SMS sender address. This is also possible with “free SMS” providers, among others. These transmit the telephone number requested or claimed by the sender to the recipient's display.

  • Yes, there may be such news.
  • DO NOT respond to such messages.
  • Don't get involved in a conversation like that.
  • Talk to your children about the dangers and risks of such messages.

Such messages are, among other things, CYBER MOBBING!

Our cooperation partner “Saferinternet.at” writes the following:

The term “cyber-bullying” refers to the intentional and prolonged use of digital media to insult, threaten, expose, harass or exclude others.

Cyberbullying takes place primarily on the Internet (social networks, chats, messengers, emails, etc.) or via cell phone (SMS, annoying calls, cell phone photos and videos, etc.). The attacks usually come from people in your own environment.

Bullying is not a new phenomenon in itself - but cyberbullying still has some special features:

  • Cyberbullying happens around the clock: the harassment doesn't stop after school or work. Cyber bullying takes place wherever digital media is used - including at home. Stopping using the internet or cell phone is usually not an option for those affected.
  • Cyberbullying reaches a large audience: Rumors or insults published on the Internet spread very quickly to a large audience. The distribution of embarrassing photos or videos is particularly common. However, once content has been posted online, it can hardly be removed again.
  • Cyber bullies act (apparently) anonymously: The perpetrators often believe that they are anonymous on the Internet, for example by hiding behind a made-up identity. This lowers the inhibition threshold.
  • No clear demarcation of roles: The roles of perpetrator and victim cannot always be clearly separated. Attacks can recur as counterattacks and turn the perpetrator into a victim.
  • “Accidental” cyberbullying: Not everyone feels the same way. What is funny to one person may be hurtful to someone else. Even “stupid photos” meant as a joke can have unpleasant consequences.

We will keep an eye on this case and update this report if necessary!

From the looks of it, the creator of the post may have removed their status post.

The page “Active against Child Abuse”
https://www.facebook.com/aktivgegenkindesabuse also took action here and called the number mentioned.

“Active against child abuse” wrote to us:

We tested the whole thing once and the user of this number was online (on WhatsApp) at 2:43 p.m. today (October 8, 2013) and the number really exists!
Currently his mailbox can no longer accept messages.

However, according to “Active against Child Abuse” the number probably exists.
After a call, they were informed that the mailbox could no longer accept calls. We didn't make a connection ourselves. It could be that we are calling from an Austrian network and “Active against Child Abuse” is not.

Here is a screenshot where you can see that the number is “busy”:
