Users repeatedly receive emails with a debt collection threat, and the recipient is said to have registered with a streaming service.

Just today, a user received exactly this email from a service called FlixGuru. de.

The site operators want an amount of 359.88 euros and are threatening seizure if the user does not pay the requested amount by March 6, 2019:

Not an isolated case

FlixGuru. de has been on the list of subscription traps of our cooperation partner Watchlist Internet .

This list is full of dubious website names that all appear in the same design and all try the same trick.

First you are lured with a free streaming account and after a few days you get a rude awakening.

Before you can stream or download the long-awaited film, you have to register and create a free account. Once this is done, nothing happens at first.

A little later you receive news from the streaming platform: The free account was only free for five days and you now have to shell out 29.99 euros a month for an annual subscription!

Costs not clearly stated

If costs are incurred, they must also clearly stated on the Internet - which is not the case with such streaming providers!

Instead of a clear “Order now for a fee” button, the user is lured with a “free account” button.

In this case you don't have to pay!

What to do? I fell for it!

The Watchlist Internet recommends in such a case: If you have fallen victim to this subscription trap, there is no reason to worry because no valid contract will be concluded. Follow these steps and don't be intimidated!

  • n't pay the bills ! There is no reason for that.
  • Ignore all invoices and mailings in the matter.
  • Go to the end of the messages and click *Unsubscribe* or *to unsubscribe from the newsletter, please click here*. This may result in you not receiving any further invoices.
  • Move the messages to your spam or junk folder. This can result in your email program directly filtering out further payment requests from criminals.
  • Experience has shown that you may also receive calls regarding this matter. End the call immediately, ignore further calls and block the number.

Threats of debt collection and seizure?

You may subsequently receive not only reminders, but also threats of debt collection or seizure. You can safely ignore these messages too, because the debt collection companies do not exist and the seizure dates are sent out en masse and are not kept.
