The Instagram presence of wegego (@WeGetGoing) looks very professional. The account posts content regularly, has around 11,000 subscribers and a nice selection of activewear for women. Also the profile of the supposed brand ambassador manager sara. wegego seems serious. In reality, however, it is a fraudulent online shop that ignores numerous legal requirements!
How does the scam work?
Instagram users are contacted by a sara. wegego, who is supposedly the “Brand Ambassador Manager” at wegego. com is written to. You are offered a cooperation: you can choose a product from the online shop and advertise it on your Instagram channel. In return they get paid for it. However, further news shows that they have to pay the shipping costs of between $20 and $50 for this product themselves - supposedly to create mutual trust. However, anyone who pays will not receive a product and will not hear from the company again.
How do I know that wegego. com is fake?
At first glance, wegego.com looks like a reputable online shop. The Instagram appearance also suggests that there is actually a company behind it. But an Instagram account is no guarantee of a reputable online shop. You also always have to look at the online shop itself. We took a closer look at the shop and discovered numerous defects:
