There has been an automatic feeder for street dogs in Istanbul since 2014 - but it was only in 2020 that people started talking about it here.

The automatic feeder for street dogs is a clever design. If you throw deposit bottles into the machine, it donates food and water to the animals that live on Istanbul's streets.

Recycling food dispenser for street dogs – the most important thing to start with:

  2. The machine not only donates food, but also offers the opportunity to share leftover water with the animals.
  3. Yes, this machine was developed in 2014 and is used in Istanbul.

This sharepic is currently being shared. It shows a machine where a child appears to be inserting something. On the other side of the machine, a dog sticks his head into an opening in the machine:

The fact check

Yes! This machine really exists and has been around since 2014. ( we reported )

the Frankfurter Allgemeine and Hounds and People, dog lover Engin Girgin, together with the Pugedon , has actually developed a machine that dispenses dog and cat food when bottles and cans are inserted.

Thanks to the social and environmentally friendly concept, over 150,000 homeless animals in Istanbul can now be cared for and people can also recycle their bottles.

The machine even received several awards in 2014.

This is how the machine works in detail:
If you throw a bottle or can into the opening, a sensor detects whether it can be reused or not. If it is recyclable, food falls into a bowl at the bottom.

If the water bottles still contain residue, you can pour the water into another opening. This also flows into a bowl.

The invention thus contributes to the survival of many street dogs and cats.
