On July 25, 2019, familylab Germany that Jesper Juul died at the age of 71 after a long illness. According to his son Nicolai Juul, the popular therapist was hospitalized due to pneumonia. After feeling a little better, he returned home and fell asleep peacefully in his bed.

is with deep sadness that we would like to inform you of the news we have just received from Jesper Juul's son Nicolai Juul.
Jesper Juul left us at 1 a.m. tonight. He was in the hospital with a recurrence of pneumonia and came home after feeling slightly better. He fell asleep peacefully in his bed. His tireless struggle through all the immense pain over so many years deserves all admiration. We thank you, dear Jesper, for your boundless commitment and the strength and confidence that you have brought to so many families with your extraordinary work. As Der Spiegel reports, Jesper Juul one of the leading experts on parenting and family relationships. He was best known for his bestseller “Your Competent Child”. Born in Denmark, he had not appeared in public for years due to a serious illness and lived in seclusion in his home country of Denmark.

In 2004, Juul founded familylab International – an international organization for consulting, training and skills development.
