Kiel - In the early evening of July 12, 2017, customs officers from a Lübeck control unit of the main customs office in Kiel carried out checks independent of suspicion on the federal highway 1, heading north.

At around 6:45 p.m. a Dutch car was directed to the Melmshöhe rest area for inspection. When asked, the 19-year-old driver said he was on his way from the Netherlands to Malmö, Sweden. He wanted to attend a wedding there. He answered the question about prohibited items and goods being carried with him in the negative.

During the subsequent inspection of the vehicle, the luggage was also checked. However, only a pair of sports pants, sports socks and a T-shirt were found. When asked where the suit for the wedding was, the Dutchman replied that he would rent a suit in Malmö. However, the experienced inspection officers were not deceived by this and continued the inspection.

During the course of further control measures, manipulations were discovered in the area of the vehicle floor under the driver and front passenger seats as well as the center console. It turned out that the car had a false floor.

After the hiding place was opened, 20 packages each containing approximately 500 g of hashish (9,952 g in total), a package of cocaine (1,104 g) and four bags of ecstasy pills (755 g) were revealed.

The black market value of the seized drugs is around EUR 200,000.
