Some photos online are more popular than others, especially if they can easily be put in the wrong context.

We received inquiries about a photo that we already know from 2014.

You can see a little girl being hugged by a man, holding a microphone in his hand.

image

The text reads as follows:

To all the misguided, uniformed liberal women demonstrating for tolerance of Islam:

This young lady is sold into sexual slavery as a child bride. She is a Christian. She saw her father beheaded and her mother raped. Where is her safe place?

As some of you may have guessed, this statement has nothing to do with the photo.

This is false news.

Four years ago, rumors about this photo circulated that a German ISIS terrorist was selling sex slaves on Facebook - supported by this exact photo.

This statement was true, but is also not related to this photo.

So what are we really seeing here?

The photo came from a video and belongs to a Koran reading in Klassa, Aleppo in 2013. The man's name is "Abu Waqqas" and he is a native of Tunisia from the ranks of ISIS.

The man comforts the girl after she read the reading a few times and burst into tears.

Taken as a screenshot from a video of the reading, it is often used to make claims. The video is (unfortunately) no longer available. The Marocco World News , Truth Scooper and That's Nonsense also refer to it, as did we in 2014 , with That's Nonsense showing another screenshot from the video.

Result:

This girl is not sold into sexual slavery as a child bride, but burst into tears during a reading of the Koran after reading it a few times.
