The warning about copyright infringement from Kertas Rechtsanwälte is not only given in writing, but also by telephone, because consumers receive a call from Germany with which they also urge the criminals to pay the requested amount of money.

Do you have to pay money to Kertas Lawyers?

No, you do not have to pay the 897.35 euros to Kertas Rechtsanwälte because the warning for copyright infringement is fraudulent. For this reason, you can ignore the letter and do not have to respond further. You can see that the letter is dubious and the warning is actually fake by looking at the following points:

  • Contrary to the claim in the email and on the phone, there was no copyright infringement by you on the website kinox.to on October 22, 2017.
  • There is no transparent information about when you clearly watched which film. This is dubious.
  • There is no Kertas law firm. You can find out by searching the German nationwide official lawyer directory for the lawyers mentioned on kertas.de (Boris Berghof, Andreas Günter, Thomas Mattes and Alexander Fischer). You won't find any entries for them.
  • The alleged warning is sent to you by email and is impersonal. Legal letters are usually sent by registered mail to recipients who are addressed directly.
  • You are supposed to transfer money to a British account (IBAN: GB06xxxxxxx), even though it is a German law firm.

The Internet Watchlist recommends:

Do not pay any money to the Kertas law firm, because the copyright infringement warning is an attempt at fraud by criminals. They want money from you without justification!
